The American Tourister suitcase lasted one short journey from UK to India and back and then the wheels gave in. I drove for three hours to the one and only American Tourister repair centre in the UK and guess what? The case is brand new and I haven't even removed the paper packing from the outer pockets.
Now, I must say you’ll feel like a kid wheeling this bag around on your journey. Its super-smooth wheels make it really easy to get around with. This suitcase expands an additional 3 cm to provide you with much-needed luggage space. It may not appear to be much, but it adds 9.5 litres to the volume. With a little strategic folding here and there, you can fit in a few extra pieces of clothing.
That’s great because a lot of wheeled duffels don’t have this feature, which causes them to tip over when you just want them to stand still. The garment sleeve is 40” when fully extended, and there’s enough room inside to fit four suits. Plus, it has an external zippered pocket, for any smaller items you’d like to have easy access to. This luggage is made from 600D polyester, and it has reinforced corners for better durability. And these are very stylish suitcases – the black and blue exterior looks really good, and even the lining matches the exterior.
One great perk of many modern suitcases is a USB charging port. They’re typically attached to a power bank so that you can juice up your phone on the go. While this can be a lifesaver on long layovers, make sure you can get a suitcase that allows you to easily remove the battery. Lithium-ion batteries can pose a fire hazard, and many airlines may require you to carry the power bank separately for that reason. You can pack more number of things when compared with a hardside bag.
They are a great brand if you want a suitcase to last long and aren't ready to invest in more expensive pieces. American Tourister has a lot of ABS plastic luggage as well, but I decided not to include any in this review. ABS is the cheapest and least durable material for hardsides, and I don’t really consider those suitcases to be the ‘best’ at all.
